Launch time, Helen, alcohol and profanity

So tomorrow Exhibit A will be launched at the Book Fair at the Penguin stand. It’s at 5.30 for 6.pm. so please hang around and grab a glass of wine. After only a mild amount of bribery and corruption Helen Moffett has kindly agreed to speak at the launch, and will no doubt be her usual entertaining and erudite self. I’ll try not to be too embarrassing or inappropriate (but neither can be guaranteed).

Please be assured that I’ll do my best to sign books without my usual dollop of profanity.

Very much looking forward to seeing you there!

Enjoy it, Sarah! This is one I'm sorry to miss. In my absence, I'm afraid, I'll have to dare you to be profane and inappropriate.

My going rate, if anyone wants to know, is a steady (yet not unreasonable) supply of champagne.

You will be sorely missed, Louis. And enough with the dares already!

Amitabh - thank you so much. Helen spoke brilliantly at the launch last night, and told a few home truths to the audience. I think we might all be suffering slightly today though - too much celebratory free wine.

    Thats great
How did your book signing go
Helen must reveal those home truths to us
I usually get carried away whenever I am asked to speak, from poetry to UFOs and beyond. My close Nepali friend / poet YuYu has brought out his latest poetry book aptly titled 'Spacecake and Amsterdam'. He says that it is selling like hot cakes.
I would be giving some performance poetry at the Wordfest on the 9 July at Grahamstown along with screening of some clips from poetry films.

    I woz there.

I can attest to the fact that Helen did indeed speak beautifully. The bottle of champagne we'd split at lunch earlier was quite unnoticeable, with nary a stutter nor a stumble in sight.

Sarah's reading of an extract from Exhibit A solved a problem I'd been wrestling with all day. Of the ten or so brand new books I've been buying with reckless abandon since the beginning of the fair, which was I to read first? Now I know. Exhibit A - no contest.

I had Exhibit A all racked up to read this weekend, but (exhibit) B stole it from my very bedside table while I babysat and she rested... not fair! Now she won't give it back until she's done.
